Liv 2

In six days’ time, Liv Kristine will be performing at the Alte Seminarturnhalle in Nagold, her fetish stage par excellence. Our fetish stage. Because yes, Nagold is always special for her fans and friends, where we meet, laugh, cry, share musical and life experiences.
Nagold is always special, with special repertoires, special guests and a unique atmosphere. From The Rarest Flower we start our special coverage of this event with this interview, as always, before the concert to tell you (almost) everything that is going to happen there. And if that wasn’t enough, Liv explains us some things exclusively about what will be her next album ‘Amor Vincit Omnia’.

EMPIRE MAGAZINE (EM): Last weekend you played two concerts and 2024 you have played more shows than in previous years. How do you feel on stage and what’s about your musicians? I think nowadays your band is really solid.
LIV KRISTINE (LK):
Thank you so much. Yes, we’ve played a couple of concerts recently and it was great fun. It feels like we have found our live sound. I really enjoy the groove. One special highlight was playing at Wacken Open Air. My band loved it. For some it was their very first time in Wacken. Believe me – the after show party was pretty amazing.

EM: Will you have some surprises on the setlist for this year?
LK:
Yes, I have included a few more of my favorite songs from my Leaves’ Eyes era. We have set up a mix of the Wacken setlist and added some surprises.

EM: Will you have some special guests with you on stage?
LK:
Yes, Rocco, Ecor, who have helped me out with playing synths and piano on remixes and covers for special releases in the past, will join me on stage, also as a duet partner. He’s my special guest, as well as Christian Roch on traditional instruments. Roland, my own amazing synth and piano player, will perform as a support act next to Ecor. It’s going to be a really fine night.

EM: Ecor will be your very special guest in Nagold as a supporter act. His musical style is very different than yours but I think he is a very talented musician. What can the audience expect of his concert?
LK:
Yes, my friend Rocco comes all the way from Italy to support me and to be my duet partner. He’s been in the audience so many times. He’s support has always been wonderful, also when it comes to making and remixing songs together. I love his voice and playing. His songs are pure, honest and at the same time dreamy. They take you to a different place.

EM: Nagold is always the best musical moment of the year for me since it’s not only a concert, it’s a meeting with my favorite artist, a very close friend for me as you are, a meeting with many friends all around the world that are reunited for you, the post party until 1AM or 2AM, a very special venue with an incredible crew… what does Nagold concert mean for you?
LK:
Oh yes, we had quite a few lovely meetings and after-show parties in Nagold. I can’t even remember if it’s my tenth or eleventh time playing live at the Seminarturnhalle. The atmosphere of the old building is very special and the crew is incredibly friendly and professional. It’s really worth going there. The live experience for both bands and audiences is exceptional, warm and really intimate.

LIV KRISTINE

for me, every day begins with a little up candle, a moment of silence and a mantra praising oneness, wholeness, love and safety. My mantra is actually sung in one of the songs on the album, “12th February”.

EM: Finally, I want to ask you about your new solo album, ‘Amor vincit omnia’ that will be released next 25th April. I expect your darkest album as a solo. Am I right? Could you please tell me some exclusive details about the album?
LK:
The title track is really dark, I have to say. Michael, my husband, is my duet partner. The prelude that leads into it, moreover, opens the album, is really special and deep and based on a heart beating and a poem of mine. So I think you are right. This album has a different depth to it. It is darker as well as very intimate in both instrumental build-up, vocals and lyrics. Some of the songs have a certain honesty and sweetness and even silence to them, a feeling that opened up during the vocal recording sessions. Sometimes it’s like I’m singing or whispering something in your ear. Sascha and I had already spent a lot of work and time studying our demo recordings. When we gathered up in the studio we tried to grasp the sound, the frequencies and the voices that communicate with the soul. I will also cover my own song “Lotus” in an acoustic version. Sascha is an amazing songwriter and producer, planning and recording the whole band.

EM: What can we expect in 2025? Some European dates, Latin America Tour…
LK:
We are hoping to gather some dates on both continents. I just love playing live with my band. Every live experience, every audience is special to me. Still, next to being an artist, I am working 100% as a teacher for children with special needs. I need both in my life. Both artistic work and working with children is not only my profession; it’s also my passion. My passionate work experience is based on empathy, authenticity and professionally. And you know, for me, every day begins with a little up candle, a moment of silence and a mantra praising oneness, wholeness, love and safety. My mantra is actually sung in one of the songs on the album, “12th February”. I’m deeply grateful for being safe and sound exactly where I am in every moment of my life experience.
